Changing Lives Through Social Entrepreneurship

The Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by the United Nations Member States in 2015, are an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – to take steps to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.

In the words of the United Nations Development Programme “achieving the SDGs requires the partnership of governments, private sector, civil society and citizens alike to make sure we leave a better planet for future generations.”

As part of that partnership, the Global Leadership Coalition embraces the SDGs and requires each of our entrepreneurs to build at least one of the SDGs into their business plan. For each Boot Camp, we focus on the key SDGs most vital to the locality/country. Additionally, each Virtual Summit has speakers who are focused on furthering the SDGs.

These 17 interconnected universal goals recognize that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests. Each of these goals consists of targets that should be achieved by each participating country by the year 2030.

When the goals are achieved, we can enjoy a planet in which the world’s population and institutions work together to manage environmental calamities, stark economic differences, violation of human rights, as well as below-par education and healthcare so that everyone can enjoy a better life.
