Raised in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region of Ghana, David Abaane Adombila grew up watching his grandfather raise cattle. As an agriculture student in university, David was inspired to develop the idea of intensification of cattle rearing, a process to reduce the age of maturity in half to increase profitability of the business. After successfully testing his theories on the farm, David decided to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps and start his own cattle business.
After learning about the Global Leadership Coalition Entrepreneur Challenge through an email sent to the Business Advisory Center of the Sefwi Akontombra District Assembly, David applied for the program and won a coveted spot to learn how to become an entrepreneur.
The goal of David Farms is to produce ethically raised, healthy cattle for the Sefwi Akontombra and Ashaiman cattle markets, while reducing unemployment in Northern Ghana by increasing opportunity for farmers and farm hands.
Throughout the program, David’s mentor Mr. Michael Nyarkio-Ampen has provided constant developmental coaching as David moved through a competitive boot camp / workshop and progressed into a four month internship with weekly classrooms, assignments, and on the ground training.
The Global Leadership Coalition is proud to support David’s vision and believe he can be at the forefront of revolutionize cattle farming in Ghana as he leads other local farmers to create new production practices to produce healthy, happy and valuable cattle.
